Law Admission Test for UNSW Law Admission 2019

Hello everyone!
So admissions for the LAT are closing soon and I haven't signed up yet, and I am unsure whether I should.

UNSW Law has the LAT as a prerequisite. Given you perform successfully on the LAT and in conjunction with the ATAR, a place might be granted. UNSW previously had a cut-off of 99.7 for law, which is why they introduced the LAT. There is a fee involved, by the way. The test falls on a day which is 2 days before my graduation. And I don't know if I want to spend my second last day of schooling ever doing a test (on top of the upcoming HSC exams)

I know UNSW is a very prestigious university for law, but I am unsure whether to apply. I would love to go there, but I would need to take a train and bus to be getting there, and I really don't want to take a bus ever again after I graduate  :P An alternative would be driving, but I'm not getting my Ps until this time next year, which means I would have to rely on public transport.

I know it sounds silly, but the location is a really big factor for me. Can someone possibly give me advice on whether I should apply anyway? I don't want to regret my choice and subsequently miss out on such an opportunity.

My other law school preferences are Usyd and UTS (which are 'only' a train ride away, opposed to train + bus).
HSC 2018  :  English Adv, Legal Studies, Ancient History, Chemistry, Biology

2019: BCommerce / BLaws @ UNSW

I offer affordable one-to-one and group tutoring in English, Modern Greek, History and Science :) send me a message!

Hey Joanne!!

Can't offer a law-specific perspective, but I will say that the additional bus ride to UNSW isn't going to bug you much after the first few weeks! Particularly if you time your classes to avoid needing to get from Central to UNSW between 8am-9am, the worst time for the lines. I thought it would be brutal, but turns out I didn't mind it. I used the train time to do work, and the bus time to catch up on socials/listen to music ;D

You will also benefit from the light-rail by the end of your degree, worth keeping in mind! :)

This said, I get location being a factor. It does suck a bit. And by all means UTS and USYD are both fantastic institutions as well. I guess what I'm saying is, if you want to go to UNSW and literally the only thing holding you back is the location, then I'd maybe consider giving it a go. The travel you can get used to! But if transport plays into a well rounded decision, then fair enough - Certainly valid thinking! :)

Hey!

I honestly reckon if you’re passionate about law and wanting to study it, then take any opportunity you can!

I’m sitting the test this year as well and it’s actually the day before my graduation, so I understand the situation you are coming from.

But in the end it’s all up to personal preference I guess, and I think you should just do what you feel is best for you :)
