SEAS Category 2 Help

Hey ATARnotes,

I'm currently trying to apply for SEAS and the question below is confusing me and I would appreciate it if someone could clarify my questions.

Quote
2.3 Do you, the applicant, currently receive any benefits from Centrelink? e.g Youth Allowance, Healthcare card, Veterans' benefits

My dad has a healthcare card and I do receive the benefits associated with this as my name is under this card. On this card my personal CRN is listed next to my name. In the information provided by VTAC below it states that having a CRN automatically means that benefits are received in my bank account but this isn't the case. So do I provide them with a CRN anyway? I just don't want my application to be deemed "ineligible for consideration" because of a possible misunderstanding.

Quote
If you receive Centrelink benefits in your name
If you have a CRN or CAN in your name, and therefore receive benefits into your own bank account, VTAC can obtain your financial details directly from Centrelink.
To arrange this, provide your consent for VTAC to verify your benefits with Centrelink on the SEAS application. Then accurately provide VTAC with your CRN or CAN. Check your details before submitting the request. If they are incorrect, Centrelink will not release your information and your application will be ineligible for consideration.
Electronic information retrievable from Centrelink includes:
 benefits you receive
 dependants
 Centrelink deductions, and
confirmation of your address.
VTAC can only electronically confirm Centrelink benefits for applicants if the Customer Access Number (CAN) or Customer Reference Number (CRN) is in the same name as the course application. If this number is allocated to your parent, guardian or partner and not the name on the application, Centrelink will not release the information to VTAC.
If you don't want VTAC to access your Centrelink files you must mail or upload a copy of your Centrelink benefits statement.

Thank you for your time !!

If you do not recieve Centrelink benefits into your own account, use your parent/guardian's CRN.
It will be on the healthcare card.

Hey,
If your dad’s receiving family tax benefit then you click yes for a different question and you have to upload a copy of a Centrelink statement and write on it that he’s your dad.

If you are receiving Centrelink yourself, but the money is just going into an account that’s not under your name (this is different to your parents receiving benefits for you) then you should just be able to use your number - if this is the case it’s probably best to either login online or call Centrelink to confirm that the benefits are actually in your name not your dads.

Most people don’t get Centrelink in their own name whilst in high school and living at home - I’m on my mums health care card and have the associates benefits but don’t have Centrelink money. So it’s likely the first case, definitely check if you think it’s the second though.

I am pretty sure I don't receive Centrelink money but have the associative benefits that come with the health care card. I thought question was also including these associative benefits but clearly not. Thank you for the clarification!! I'll just provide documents for the other sections then.

If you do not receive Centrelink benefits into your own account, use your parent/guardian's CRN.
It will be on the healthcare card.

Thank you for answering. I will be answering no overall for this question.
