Due to bad circumstances i have had to rewrite my creative just before the HSC, my teachers on holidays and im freaking out a little bit. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and welcomed at this point. Thanks.

Of course I read it. I had read everything. But Davies was wrong. This wasn’t about electrolysis anymore, it was induction.

The electrodes sparked, illuminating the dimly lit laboratory to reveal the transfixed faces crowded around the desk.

“This doesn't make sense, if the electrical force is flowing through the wire, why does the needle move perpendicular to it. It should be parallel”

Awestruck I interjected “ Perhaps the electricity is emanating invisible forces as it moves along”.

Glazed eyes fixated upon me, staring at me but not looking at me.

“Oh my dear boy, let me tell you. If you went to the University of Cambridge you would know electricity flows through the wire, not sideways to it… Now get back to work! those books aren’t binding themself.”

Stepping closer to Davies I retorted “ Well they may teach you that at Cambridge but that's not what's happening in front of our eyes is it?.”

Taking a step towards me his face shifted more solemnly

“We aren't going to have a problem here are we Michael ? Let me just check all the job applications on my desk and maybe I can find someone who doesn't undermine my work.

Taking a step back, I apologized and backed away. Returning to the library to further my research.

Tearing at the seams, the notes lay scrambled upon the floor, bound loosely by a worn and faded tan leather cover. Sorting them back into order my mind ambled realms away. Dull eyes fixed on the window as the soft sounds of rain drops echoed throughout the seemingly endless halls of the library.

Through the dense clouds, spectacular flashes of light opposed the spreading darkness of the sky, a true indication of natures utter power. It was soon followed by a giant crack. The close gap between the two indicating the nearness of the storm.

It was at that moment an incredible event took place. A thunderous boom propagated throughout the library, books shaking as the compass sat beside me spiralled from north to south. The small crowd within bewildered at what had happened.

But I sat in dead silence. New ideas snapping through my head.

If thunder could create a magnetic field, perhaps the concept could work in reverse.

Light headed with the ecstasy of knowledge, it dawns upon me the room is in darkness. Work had ended hours ago and now I was alone.

Faint streaks of light cascaded out of the crevasses across the door and onto the worn pages present in front of me, providing the only light within the room.

Plagued by my curiosity, I peered into the dimly lit room to which my gaze was met by the still active electrodes, inviting me to play.

“Remarkable” I said aloud, turning embarrassingly only to remember that i was alone. I had only hoped to have a peek but before i knew it my hands were clenched upon Sir Davies work.

“Mercury, copper plates, wire. That should do it”
With my eyes glazed upon what i had just set up, I paused. The only thing sparking in the laboratory now was my smile and it wasn't just lighting up the room, it was radiating it.

With a flick of a switch, sunbeams danced and gleamed upon the table as I wildly flicked through my research notes.

“Electrolysis… Magnetism …Compounds…  No, this was Induction”

I was standing still, yet the wire was moving. The forces flowing beyond its boundary.

I looked down to my fiercely shaking hand. It was uncontrollable. Every nerve in my body lacing itself with a dawning chill, with my mind beaming beyond its capacity.

“I, Michael Faraday, have created electromagnetic induction.”
