Lots of people getting degrees probably does devalue having a degree in the job market, however the overall effect is a better trained, more well-educated population. This means people will be (at least theoretically) more competent at what they do. In that sense, the skills that people/society picks up from higher education isn't really devalued at all, unless it goes completely unused.
