Synesthetic got 49 last year and dropped 2 marks overall with an A+ SAC mark (although not in the top few of the school I believe, but our cohort is quite strong).  4 marks really isn't going to get net 49.  =/

I know, exam 1 was so tricky! =(

Exam 2 - lost marks on the same question as you. I think that question was screwed. Do you use Maths Quest - they specifically state that in the case of Integer solutions, you use the nearest 8 points to that particular point. I used 5, 4 to give $17000 but it's meant to be 2,7. I hate VCAA.

You'll definitely get a great mark! I still don't know exactly how much I lost on explanation questions, so like you, I'm hoping for the range 48-50.

Ya! Exam 1 was tricky, but you didn't trip up like I did! I guess it also comes down to luck too... whether you can pick up your stupid mistakes! :P You're obviously more lucky than me! hehe.

Oh, I use Essentials, and I used MathsQuest for concepts I didn't get. My teacher taught us to find another point, but I didn't realise you couldn't have 4.5 and 5.5 flights (wasn't thinking straight - didn't think it was one of those cases where you had to consider whether it was realistic!), so I just left it, without realising it.

Yupo! I'd be happy with a 48+, despite what we discussed about personal satisfaction! (obviously be more happy with a 50. haha. but thats sorta out of the question now. :P)

(btw, isn't it funny how we're talking about Further in a Methods thread? haha! sorry methods peeps! :D)

I'm guessing this year 2 marks max is probs 50 and 3 marks is around 49. 4 - 5 for 48.

Haha well not really - I could have lost more!!

We didn't use Essentials for Further. I used it for Methods, I thought it was of a really good standard. I got really annoyed with that question, it was for only 2 marks and took up so much working!

Sorry Methods people =P

And TrueTears - do you reckon Methods was harder this year or easier?
Raw Scores:

mmm I didn't it was harder, but it was more "trickier" so I guess more careless marks will be lost.

But who knows we will see soon.

thanks guys

hey TT so lets say i got:

39/40 for exam 1 (im assuming i dont lose a mark for not putting a modulus and for the last question i said 'h' is too large giving a discrepancy, but im counting that as wrong)

**/80 ( i dont how many marks ill lose, i got all the MC right, and for the composite function question i didnt use modulus - its always the modulus- thats 1 marks off?, and followed it up with only one solution for the derivative function - another mark off? and i also lost 1 mark somewhere else.)
so assuming my estimations are correct,

77/80 for exam 2

wat study score range is possible??

thanks

You'll probably lose a mark for not putting the modulus signs in exam 1.

Either way, losing 5 marks across both exams is probably going to net you 45-48ish.

Not likely.
I think a maximum of 40.

What has really confused me was that some guy said he got 44 for losing 6.5 marks with A+ sacs in a decent cohort.
Whereas other people who lose like 4.5, get a high 40's

Just out of curiosity, how would you rate the strength of your school's methods students?
