Competitive Score for Monash Medicine

I think that recently Monash Med has been more competitive to get into. I really want to get a spot at monash, since I'm a melburnian. But, it wouldn't kill me not to get in, because I think I've secured a spot at Latrobe Dentistry

It’s really weird since someone at my school got a 96.8 ATAR and 70 something percentile ucat and got an interview offer. However, he wasn’t a rural or aboriginal student and didn’t have Monash guarantee, only seas category 1 (based on address). He declined in the end though since he wasn’t anticipating it and already settled for another course

In my year 12 days (2018), the ballpark scores to aim for is 90th percentile + on the UMAT (UCAT now) and 98+ ATAR, preferably 99+. But the interview is a major factor as well and you can't really predict your performance on the day.

99+ ATAR and 90%+ on the UCAT have been the standard over the years with a higher score in one being able to compensate for a lower in the other. It seems this year they've decided to interview many more people and I've seen much lower scores getting an interview. Might signal a change in the Monash?

Billuminati has hit the nail on the head I believe - at least for non-rural students.

Because we don't know the exact cut offs from year to year it's obviously smart to aim as high as you can for each component of atar, ucat and interview.

One thing to keep in mind is taking the interview seriously. Monash sends out far more interview offers than positions, so it really is very key.
