Is the 2 points to your aggregate really worth the hours of work? Is it that hard to get an extra 2 points in your main subjects?

2 is almost minimum (with little to no work). If you have a natural ability to learn, then this would be really easy to achieve. Improving 2 study score points on one of your top 4 subjects requires traversing up the ladder quite a lot because of the normal distribution (unless you're looking at scores below 30).

Aye Bay Bay, I don't know if this'll help, but could you sort of tell us what sort of student you are, what subjects you are doing and what your enter and course aims are and such? It might help focus our advice.
Personally, I did 5 VCAA 3/4's in yr12 plus monash uni enhancement maths, so it was sort of 6. As long as you work consistently hard every night on whatever homework you're given and understand it, I'm sure most people could handle 6 yr12 subjects, with time to spare for socialising, except on the weekends before major SACs and the wind-up to exams.

I suspect that this is true. I was finding 5 subjects a little bit too light of a load. If I had more, it could have kicked me off my arse to try harder (and when I did 1 subject in year 11, that was abhorrent).

That doesn't matter as long as you don't have 7 3/4 subjects :P

I did too, but with 2 3/4's. There were several other students at my school in a similar situation, just with different subjects.

yeah especially since you are doing uni maths... i heard that you can sleep right through your spesh classes and still get the highest marks XP

not the highest marks perhaps. but if you do UMEP or MUEP maths, then the amount of attention you need to pay in spec decreases markedly. my friend and i just spent most spec classes talking and pissing around, and we still both did well.

in retrospect, i was going insane with 5, but that's just me - i'm a stresshead :P it really depends on whether you're a diligent, studious person or not, and whether you believe that can make up the potential points lost by spreading yourself too thinly.

if you didn't do a 3/4 last year, i suggest that you stick with 6 for the moment and drop it before the deadline in march/april (?) if you're overwhelmed, as it entails a big workload.

having said that, the two girls in my school that i knew doing 6 subjects got 99.80 and 99.95, so i wouldn't immediately discard the idea.

English 45  Chemistry 45  Specialist 45  Physics 44  Chinese 40  Methods 44  ->  ENTER 99.75
