How disadvantaged are you for not doing a 6th subject?

Ah I only moved here last year and my school wouldnt let me do any 3/4's in year 11 =.=

I really wish I could have at least attempted Further or Psychology last year

Is it really hard to catch up? All VNer's and everyone who's going for dentistry/health sciences are doing 6+ subjects and I pretty much have to get all High40's/50 to be able to have a chance. I feel so disadvantaged at the moment >.<

Farr, Really regretting things now :/ aha
Someone please tell me its not as bad as I'm thinking it is

What's the clearly-in ATAR for dentistry at the university you want to go to?

I really would have loved to do one. 3-4 extra aggregate points would make a big difference.

it definately isnt as bad as ur making it out to be, for proof go on the entercalc site and see how much of a difference a 6th subject makes (even if its 40+).

I agree with Superflya, besides, can't do much about it now except work hard to get what you want.

I reackon ur fine. Doing 6 subjects is pretty insane (obviously not from personal experience as i'm only doing 3 propepr subjects;)) and it wouldn't really help a heap. Your time would be better spent working on your other subjects as the 6th subject would only be 4-4.5 extra. Worry about nailing english, do that and you'll be fine

tezza if you really have got your heart set out on doing 6 subjects, why not consider doing an enhancement study whilst your in yr12.

5 vce subjects + uni enhancement = 6 subjects

Melbourne university, Monash university and Victoria university all offer enhancement subjects..

It is when you really dont have anywhere to make up extra marks. I need 4 raw scores over 45 cause my subs all scale down or stay close to raw.

Yeah, but for him chemistry and methods both scale up (and I think biology does too, can't remember exactly). I think you will be fine, as long as you stop regretting and start working.

Its almost halfway past first semester I dont think I'd be able to catch up on a VCE subject let alone a uni one ;P It's too late anyway
And 6 subjects in year 12 is definitely too much, I was just talking about the extra one you could do in year 11

Anyways thanks guys ;] You're right, theres nothing I can do except start working harder

It depends. It you're looking for 95+ then every point will be important. If not, then it's really not a big deal. Especially if a 6th subject will make you neglect other subjects which count much more.
