Site for cheap books [legit]

I used to buy stuff amazon occasionally (Ok... once and its still only like 1 quarter read...not the biggest reader) but a friend linked me these sites and i thought id pass them onto you guys in-case some of you are in need of books or cheap text books and dont mind to wait a little.

http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/ - Like amazon except without the apparently massive shipping fees
http://www.booko.com.au/ - Compares all the good book sites

I'm sure itll be useful for some of you looking for uni text books maybe or just to buy books in general

[not sure if you'd have much luck with VCE texts but itd probably be good for buying supplementary stuff like "The Cambridge Encyclopedia of the English Language" by David Crystal which i hear is fantastic for english language]

Peace

Yeah they are way cheaper if you don't mind the 'long' delivery time - usually 2-3 weeks

the website says most of them are out of stock (on book depository). I mainly just use amazon and ebay as well as buy the books the year 12s sell at the end of the year.

The books I usually buy (physics, maths related) are generally pretty expensive even in the US but thats nothing compared to Australia. Take introduction to Quantum Mechanics by David J. Griffiths as an example. $121USD new in the US is a reasonable price because its quite a good book. You want to buy it in Australia from say borders? $327. Ok lets try Angus & Robertson... $344. Two of the biggest book store chains in Australia and its a 254% increase in price for a book.

These stores always bitch and moan about amazon taking away their business but look at their ridiculous prices.

Fuck I hate Australian currency.

But yeah back on topic.

Book Depository UK is good and so is Amazon even though their shipping is a bit bleh.
