I've bumped into a few questions that ask about physical and chemical properties of hydrocarbons. What does it mean by physical and chemical properties? i.e. what should I be referring to when talking about physical and chemical properties?

Physical properties - BP, MP, appearance etc.
Chemical properties - Reactivity, chemical stability etc.

That's how I would answer questions like that :)

Oh ok thanks. Is volatility a physical or chemical property?

Apparently polarity is also a physical property.

Polarity can affect intermolecular bonding, and can affect reactivity.

My teacher told me that polarity was physical. What she said was that chemical properties do not change in a homologous series. But polarity does.
