Hey,

(1) Firstly, not a question about the course but are we able to structure our answers in dot points and number format or do they have to be in full paragraphs like in BM or legal

(2) Explain the importance of viewing the Ames Room through a peephole, in creating the illusion

1) I am 100% sure you can answer in dot point form, they even do that in the assessors report
Also, you can draw diagrams, but these MUST be accompanied with an explanation

2) The peephole is made so that only one eye can view inside, this eliminates using binocular cues
It is positioned in the middle so the room looks like a rectangle

Thanks, I knew it eliminates binocular cues but how does that create the illusion. I've sort of got the answer in my head just can't word it properly. or is that all we would need to write in the first place

by eliminating the binocular depth cues convergence and retinal disparity we can't discern the shape of the room as boots said. we can't use retinal disparity which would show us the room is in fact a trapezoid by comparing the information from both eyes. and as we cannot use convergence, we can't tell that the person is actually coming closer when they appear to be growing in size which is what creates the illusion. without the peephole the illusion just wouldn't work

Do we need to know about bottomup/topdown processing?
