vcaa does give half marks, i got my chem statement and they gave me half marks.

Yeah that's chem. What about methods?

2 examiners mark it.  If one examiner gives you a certain mark and the other doesn't, then once they average it out, it ends up being a half mark.

Shouldn't really happen in methods though, as the answers should be right or wrong. pretty black and white.

It's possible to get half marks after doubling.

My exam 2 score was 77.5/80 for instance but only because I got 155/160 after doubling.
Raw Scores:
Psychology 50 | Mathematical Methods 49 | Further Mathematics 49 | Accounting 49 | Chemistry 44 | English 43
ATAR: 99.75

ILMM, What marks did you get for Exam 1?
Ancient Persian Proverb; " I Wept because i had no Shoes, until i saw a man with no feet!"

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.

Typically disparity arises in "show that" questions, where one examiner thinks you have provided enough working, whilst the other doesn't.

yeah.. not sure, but what i heard from teachers is that they give half marks to questions that are worth more than 1 mark, and say if you get 35.5/40 they will round down to 35

they do give half marks because your exam is marked by two independent assessors and one may give you 2 the other 1 so you get 1.5 etc... so each question is doubled in value if that makes sense? cause i viewed my paper last year for one of my 3/4 and the lady told me that they do give half marks if say working is correct but final answer isnt.
