Hey there fellow amatuer philosophers!

Just thought everyone might enjoy some discussion on the year so far in VCE Philosophy!

How are you finding the year so far?

Had any SACs yet? How did you go!

Personally, this is my favourite subject by a million miles!
2011 - English, English Language, Philosophy, Indonesian SL, Outdoor and Environmental Studies.

“We are all alone, born alone, die alone, we shall all someday look back on our lives and see that, in spite of our company, we were alone the whole way. I do not say lonely -- at least, not all the time -- but essentially, and finally, alone. This is what makes your self-respect so important, and I don't see how you can respect yourself if you must look in the hearts and minds of others for your happiness.”

sometimes I feel as if I'd be more enriched in life if I bought an RV and started cooking meth

I'm loving it, but also finding it relatively hard. (Philosophy and Literature are currently my 'hard' subjects. :S)

Just had our Nicomachean Ethics (which is really only one third of our first SAC).
Not brilliant, 31/40, but hoping to bounce back with the next two ('third') SACs on Gorgias.

The philosophers in my class are just amazing. Makes me look weak. :P

Ah, well as long as you're enjoying it :)

We're having our SAC on Ethics next Wednesday, I'm surprisingly nervous. How did your 31/40 rank?

Not quite sure on how exactly the entire class went.
I know 2 girls who got 37/40, another who got 35/40 and another who got the same as me.
Then again there are at least 3 people I've talked to who got low/mid to high 20's/40... :S

So I'm guessing I'm somewhere in the middle. :)

Surprisingly I really like it... not gonna lie, I hated it at first and had cheeky naps every class. Once our class hit Aristotle though, I got into it. Got a 38/40 on my first sac :D

Can we start a thread on Neitzsche soon? I really like the resources we put together as a group.

My favourite text this far would have to Fredrich Nietsche, i think his words speak a lot of truth and it was really enjoyable reading his text. Simone Weil on the other hand, i felt she was quite vague at times and to be honest i had to force myself to read it.

1st SAC down and i got 32/40 which is 3rd highest in the class which im quite happy with, though i think there is certainly a lot of improvement needed there.

Philosoph is a great subject, i have no idea why there arent more people doing the subject.
2010: Biology 3/4, History:Revolutions 3/4
2011: English 3/4, Philosophy 3/4, Physics 3/4, Maths Methods 3/4, Further Maths 3/4

Aim: Bachelor of Architecture at Deakin University

The fact that it isn't offered by many schools is a contributing factor
