Business information systems or double degree

I'm not quite sure if i should just do the single business info systems course (IBL stream, which I've already been accepted to ) or the double degree of commerce/business info systems. Can some body tell the difference between the two and the disvantages and advantages of each?
Thanks in advance :)

With the double, you have both BBIS and Comm knowledge (kinda obvious) - but if you do commerce, it leaves with more career options rather than being restricted to the IT industry. If you get sick of IT you can still have a career in business and always alternate between the two.

The only let down with the double is that you get 1 IBL placement - single degree students get two (very unfair =[ ).

Moreover, employers value people who have broader knowledge and skills - the double degree will make you stand out from other BBIS graduates.

OR
you could do BBIS then do Masters of Business Information Systems later on if you don't prefer to do commerce.

*If you decide you want to do the double - check with the IT faculty if you will still retain your IBL place. Double degree students usually apply in 2nd or 3rd year (they look at your sem1 uni marks and then interview you).

Uni 2010 - 2013 : BComm(Fin.)/BBIS (IBL)

2011 S2: Industry-Based Learning

Professional Accreditation 2016 - 2017 : CPA, CFA or MBA

(Extreme bias as a dropout of Comm/BBIS)

Depends on what you want to do in the future. BBIS is a very focused vocational degree, even moreso with 2 IBL placements, which means you're very locked down to certain business analysis roles. You won't learn much else, i.e your programming skills will be far too weak for technical roles, your knowledge of business too weak for business roles. It's very much for those who are "I want to get out of uni ASAP to start working", and odds are you will find a job (100% of those in the IBL stream gain employment after graduation seems like).

Commerce/BBIS will widen your horizons away from IT somewhat, depending on your Commerce major, and you will learn much more in an academic sense. However, I believe you will lose your IBL place (As the interview you took would only apply to BBIS single), and be forced to take an interview later. And of course, you'll have to be at uni for an extra year.

^Master of Business Information Systems is fail - it's for internationals to get jobs here. Caulfield IT in general is terrible.

Having just graduated from BBIS IBL Stream, I would strongly recommend taking the single degree. Like methodsman said, you receive two IBL placements (usually one at an international company and another at a national company). I was fortunate to receive placements at Coles Group (Project Management) and PwC (Forensic Technology and IT Audit).
I found that having such varied industry experience was advantageous in applying for graduate jobs.
I know several BBIS alumnus that have received their CA qualification, and have moved into different industries and business functions.
