What are the key areas of study?

What kind of questions are more likely to appear on exams/assignments;
i.e. pure maths, applied or a combination of both.

In addition how much harder or easier is it compared to Specialist and
Methods?

im doing melbourne atm. Concepts are harder to understand, but once you get them, answering questions becomes pretty straight forward. It isn't so straight edge as meth or spesh, you need to be able to grasp concepts that can be quite confusing. You need to be a good mathematician to be doing it (i.e. you would have to be at the top end of your cohort).

Maths concepts extend your knowledge of complex numbers, vectors, matrices, calculus and so, but to a much further extent. Ive found that you need greater visualisation with the maths as opposed to meth or spesh, where the theory is pretty much straight forward.

lololol, have fun visualizing the vector spaces and subsets in 5 dimensions :P

But yeah, that's a pretty good summary of the UMEP course. You would probs be looking for ABOUT 40+ in methods as a guide as to if you can cope with the course, having said that people with lower scores have got in and coped

I am doing the Monash course this year but I have heard from our teacher that next year the course is getting changed and will be more similar to the Melbourne course, not sure to what degree. Other people might know more about whether the changes are going to be made and the nature of them?
