If you ask what course is better you're going to get one of a few answers:
- People saying Melbourne is better because of rankings
- People saying Melbourne is better because of prestige
- People saying Melbourne is better because they go there and are biased
- People saying RMIT is better because of hearsay that it's supposedly 'better' in some specific field (all universities are mysteriously better than Melbourne in every area when asking a non-Melbourne student about said specific field).
- People saying RMIT is better because they go there and are biased.
- People saying RMIT is better because they don't go to Melbourne and want to show off their sagely knowledge that RMIT, as a smaller uni, is better (see Socialist Alternative for more on 'sticking it to the man').
"Which university is better, x or y?" just gets the above people pissed off at each other. There are no arguments for it that aren't rubbish or biased; you either know "x is better than y because it just farking is," in which case you go to that uni, or you don't know which is better, in which case you go to any uni.
As for what type of people are in a uni class...people who have high enough enters to get in, decide to attend class and have a vested interest in taking the class. That's just about all you can come up with in terms of pigeonholing students.
