Hi all,
i was just needing some help with a question that my teacher gave me about Look Both Ways. Here it is:

What evidence is there of Meryl’s self-awareness/self scrutiny?

could someone please help out.
Thank you very much :)

Meryl's self-awareness and self scrutiny are usually defined within her imagery and animated visions. For example, after coming off the train, we can see into Meryl's animated mind, which portrays the train actually falling on her. Meryl also expresses herself, as Ken said above, through her paintings and artwork. It is also interesting to note that Meryl usually throws out many of her paintings, as Nick usually collects, since she doesn't really appreciate their quality, and therefore, self scrutiny is evident and present.

Meryl is a very articulate person, and this is evident in the ways in which she expresses her feelings and emotions through her artwork and animated visual imagery.

Lol, I hope this helps you :P

Also, as an extra, slightly out of the box point, you may like to mention the scene in which her body is clearly unsatisfactory in her eyes. For instance, at the pool, Linda says "it's for your mind, not your thighs" (or something similar) and meryl says "why even mention my thighs" and then when she's changing she focuses on the pretty, modelesque girl and comparing herself to her, and then looking at the old fat women and sort of says "at least I'm not as bad as that" (she doesn't actually say that... I'm assuming from facial expression)... and voila! self scrutiny :) hope this helps
