Could you give a specific example of where you're struggling?

For analysis/worded questions the best thing to do is define any variable you have, ie say "let x=number of sheep" or "let y=length of rectangle and w=width of rectangle" - that way, you can generate an equation for the problem... and these are far easier to work with as they will generally start to appear like the ones you have worked with in the textbook questions... just remember to SIMPLIFY the problem down and break it up into concepts that you are already familiar with. Just apply the question to the stuff you already know - e.g. if it asks "what rate is the length of the rectangle increasing" ... you can automatically think "rate = differentiation" and maybe find the deriviative of the equation you generated. Oh, and diagrams help too.

Hope some of that was helpful :)

My trick for worded questions is replace words with a value with a variable, eg. A number is 3 times bigger than another, I would replace the bigger number with x and the other number with y then put them back into the sentence -> x is 3 times bigger than y, hence x = 3y
