Hello, i have a sac tomorrow and the prompt is "there's always low points in a journey" and we HAVE to do an expository feature article
the short story that we have to connect to is about a former drug addict who is recovering from becoming a mother again to a boy who was sent to child services ages ago.
What should i write my article about? and can someone explain how to write a feature article..im a bit confused. do we have to relate to an event?
or an issue?
would it be possible to just discuss different low points in various journey and list examples in the feature article (or is that too vague)
Or should i just discuss about the topic of drug addiction and recovery, and how it makes us learn from things BUT risk going off on a tangent instead?
O, can some one also link me to a feature article (from the age or herald sun)?
Thanks.

Feature articles are balanced pieces of writing, that is, you present the facts of both sides of the debate and leave it up to the reader to make an informed decision. You shouldn't lean one way like a persuasive piece.

Have a look at some of the Creating and Presenting Examples. They will be on different topics, but the form might be the same in some articles.

Who says you HAVE to do an expository feature article? Usually students have the choice of selecting their preferred style of writing. What you decide to write about is your choice. However, it is a requirement that you draw on ideas from a text so I'd write about the short story and link it with the prompt. Always remember, the prompt isn't an essay topic question. Prompts are designed to stimulate ideas inside your mind. You should try and stick to it but there is room for leeway.

thanks MJRomeo81!
that really helped me :D
my teacher said we had to do a feature article she didnt want us to do expositorry essays casue she was afraid that we'd turn it into a text response :|
ok so im goig to write about drug addiction and how it negatively influences peoples lifestyles.  and how its hard to recover from it but some people will get there.
when i relate it to the novel do i quote the novel by saying as seen in balblbla's blablbla, bla bklabla did this
or could i just pretend that the character from the novel is a real life person and quote that person

I would go with your second idea. After all, this is creating and presenting. You can let your creative side shine with pretending the person/s exist in real life.

Or else as your teacher said, if you go with the other idea it may sound like a text response.
