The pituitary gland is a receptor because it recieves the stimulus from the hypothalmus and it is the effector because it produces the hormone ACTH.

i thought it was a receptor because it picks up on hormones travelling through the bloodstream and it was a effector because it released the hormone ACTH

its definately not absciscic acid.. coz i remember my teacher telling me its the opposite :/
but yeah its ethylene coz it helps with ripening and abscission... but dont worry i worte bloddy cytokinin -.-
