going to a chemistry tutor... or not ?

Hi guys,
I am in year 11 and going to do chemistry 3/4 next year, im going well in year 11, but i booked a chemistry tutor last year for 2012, in case i was not comfortable with the subject. Do you guys suggest it is necessary to have a tutor for chemistry or can it be learnt individually with the help of my teacher, who is going to teach chemistry next year after 6 years and a new study design- ie she may not be completely up to date.

What do you guys think?

In case any of you know her my tutors name is Aisha :D

Thanks everyone :D

Isha? Near airport? <3 You should go, she is a megababe. My chem teacher this year at school was shit, so I signed up for Isha's classes after my cousin had her last year. Learnt SO MUCH MORE and she teaches from basic principles and knows everything. She just has dodgy English so you will occasionally need to employ your comprehension skillz. Plus, it's really cheap at $35 for 2+ hours (she always goes overtime)

Ok I know that this is being judgmental.... but....

Since you go to Werribee Secondary College, you probably should get a tutor. (Please don't take offense with this).

Keep in mind, with a tutor, you are able to cover more in less time, because a tutor knows what is going on, and knows how to explain it. If you try to learn by yourself, you have to put in more effort to try and understand what is going on.

While it might cost you to go to a tutor, I would personally say it would be worth it.

He's a cutie ;)

I would recommend undertaking tutoring if you're attempting to attain a study score of 45+ (assuming you are speaking in terms of raw study scores). Sometimes you need to think about the level of education the people you are competing against are receiving. I would assume most students attempting to score that high would be doing extra classes outside of school, so it would be a good idea to do so as well, assuming you have the funds.

I personally don't think a tutor is necessary - it's not like they're going to teach you anything you wouldn't learn from school/past exams/the textbook etc. I did northshore chemistry and it was such a waste, pretty much only did it to please my parents. It all comes down to your own study in the few weeks before the exam imo.
