Hello

I want to study Commerce in Melbourne, preferable Melbourne University. However, there is the possibility that I don't get the 96+

So,

How should my preferences sheet thingy go:

1. Commerce Melb Uni CSP
2. Commerce Melb Uni in the Fringe
3. Commerce RMIT
4. Commerce Monash (tooo far for me)

Is that how you do it?

2. Commerce Melb Uni in the Fringe

Is that counted as another preference spot?

Nah. You can't apply to Full Fee courses any longer so there can only be 1 unique course pref.

Fringe ENTER is a means of selection (for middle-bands etc) it's not another form of entering the course (like CSP) and thus cannot be put down a separate pref. :)

Oh btw, you don't necessarily need 96 to get in. Historically the clear-in ENTER has never entered 96 territory, but that doesn't say it will not this year. I think the ENTER will either decrease to 95.4 or increase 95.85; but get 96 just to be safe.

niena18, if u wanna do commerce at Uom, then the preferences u have set are fine, as long as commerce Uom is your first prefernce. Considering if u did attain over 96, then your position in Uom would be a certainty. Conversely, if u put Monash commerce first, then u'll only be offered the course in Monash (as this was your first preference) hence you will miss out in Uom, even with an ENTER of 99.95!

Fringe ENTER is the lowest ENTER admitted to the course (including middle band).

Preference 4 is a wasted preference, as you will never get it (as No. 3 has a lower ENTER requirement).

EG. You get 96 and Pref. 3 needs 88 and Pref. 4 needs 92 (numbers out of my head). You will get the best preference you can with your score, therefore you will get Pref. 3.
