hi, is anybody going to melb uni on Monday to do gel electrophoresis/ genetic engineering workshop?

My class did the same thing (electrophoresis and genetic engineering) yesterday. It wasn't at Melb Uni though, we did it at CSIRO near the Botanical Gardens. The genetic engineering was fun because you get to mutate E.coli into an ampicillin resistant strain on E.coli (assuming you do the same thing my class did).

Ahhh u guys are so lucky….we were going to do it at school coz we have the equipment but our teacher lost the gel plates….so he just made up the results for us. It was so boring to write a report after not doing the actual prac :(

Does it control ionization of acids in the gel? I mean does it make the gel conduct electricity by maintaining the pH at a certain level?
