I wanted to ask does having a course, say Biomed or commerce at 4th preference at UOM given that they are pretty competitive affect your chances of getting in? Like by a lot?

Also, while reading the VTAC guide, i looked at the Entry requirments and i didnt understand what "fringe" enter was, cud some1 plz clear this up?

They work down your list from 1st pref to last, and the first one they find that you have the ENTER for is what you get the offer for.

If I put something with an ENTER of 99.95 as my 2nd preference, with something with 60 as my first (and lets say I got 99.95), I would get my first preference.

SO you wouldnt be able to do your 2nd preference?

Couldn't you just re-order your preferences after you got your ENTER?

If i applied for SEAS and my enter isn't sufficient for my 1st preference, I have to wait till offers to see if they'll accept me. What happens if I decide after first round offers that I really want my second preference which my enter will likely be much higher than. on the one hand i want to try my luck with SEAS to see if I get an offer, and I do prefer my no 1 preference but it is possible I may change my mind.

I don't think so, as after December 22, your preferences cannot be changed anymore, and your order of preferences is what stands. But if you didn't get the ENTER for your first preference, then you will receive the next best preference to which your ENTER will suffice. You can try your luck with SEAS on the first preference if you wish, but if it fails through, then you will receive the next best preference, provided you get the ENTER for it.

Basically, always try to get a first round offer with your first preference if you can, and re-arrange your preferences before December 22 so this can be possible.

Yeh, you can reject offers, but if it's your highest preference you won't be made any offers in the subsequent rounds, if you want to get into a course that was lower on your preference list than your offer then you mut apply for an irregular offer

I guess you can still defer a course and do another course, and if you don't like the course you have studied, you can go back to that course which you previously deferred? I don't even know if you can do this. :P

EDIT: 2000 posts... God, I need to stop procrastinating. :(
