Why did you choose medicine?

I love the health sciences and doctors/paramedics/pharmacists such as Gunther Von Hagens continue to inspire me especially their reasons for choosing medicine.

I think this question is aimed at medical/health science students..
Why did you choose to study medicine or the other health sciences?

Personally, I'd love to do something in the health sciences and if I'm lucky enough, practise in financially unstable/underdeveloped countries.. (and also because I'm continually fascinated by the human body)
