I bought a Dell laptop at the start of this year...

I had a problem with my adapter that charges the laptop and they came out and replaced it.

I have to say though, some things about it dissapoint me. Screws keep falling out of the fucken laptop (like the screws that keep the blody case together!!!) and to me thats a pisspoor effort.

If you pay.

We used Dell computers at a firm I worked for previously as a desktop support officer and we paid a yearly subscription for their Premier service package. I recall a time when one of my colleagues reported a drive having a bad DVD-ROM drive in the morning to Dell at about 10-11am. The part arrived by courier on the same day at 2pm.

3 hour turnaround. I was impressed.

Yeh I think I only have a one year warrenty or something on it.

I think before it runs out I should get them to come replace one of the screws that has fallen out haha. As petty as it sounds I want that one screw LMAO

I can't believe that the screws are all loose and falling out. That can't be normal can it?

No, not really.

I'm pretty sure you'd be asking questions if the axle fell off your car, right? :P

Really?? :o :o :o
But most people at uni I know has an Asus brand laptop and they say its the best  :o :o :o

Which brands have good service for the claiming warranty thing?

What about Toshiba or HP?

I'd go for one of those HP Pavilion. They last quite long - I bought my first HP Pavilion back in Dec 2006, which went fine till about Nov 2008. I cant remember the model but it was something like Pavilion dv2000. It had just a 1GB RAM and 80GB HDD. Managed to turn it on but screen didnt display anything - it had some video card problems..

Some HP models tend to have heating problems and get too hot during summer (bottom of laptop gets as hot as 60 deg). And watch out for older models, I recall 3 models have video card problems, like mine, and one model has problems when you open the laptop cover (problems with the hinge which connect the screen to the laptop body)

I got a new Pavilion recently though, it seems that these laptops entertain me well...

HP Pavilion dv4-1164tx Entertainment Notebook PC

Has 4GB RAM and 320 HDD and was dead cheap. And demaded for a free cooling pad which pretty much solves my problems...
