Do yourself a favour and get yourself an 8600GT/880GT. Quite good for what they are, and depreciated by the 9 series (meaning falling prices) will probably mean you'll get these for a steal.

9600gt atm is the best value mid range card, its performance is great and its quite cheap, it will easily play half life 2 and the other games u were interested in playing.
