Laptop:

You can carry it around (obviously)
Usually comes with more extra features (webcam, photo card reader, possibly tablet etc)

Desktop:

More powerful per dollar
Can use massive screens/dual displays
Can actually play games reasonably at a reasonable price

Aren't you in year 5, Roflmao? I think a desktop will suit you more for now - By the time when you really need it (if your school utilises laptops at all), the laptop you buy now would probably be bin-worthy.
Aren't you also a gamer? I think desktop will suit your needs more. (But you have like a 8800 or something so really, you don't really need a laptop nor desktop right now :) )

beasty desktops ftw :D
8800 gtx = orgasmic graphics.
Unless you actually NEED a laptop, for school, uni or whatever...then i would suggest a desktop.

Depends on what you will use it for, I had a laptop and found that 99% of the times i used it i had it plugged in so i decided to get a desktop since they are relatively cheaper with superior components. If you are going to be highly mobile with your laptop, then by all means get a laptop but if you rarely leave your home desk then its better value to get a desktop.
