I know there is a thread about this somewhere, but since it's closer to the date... can someone PLEASE confirm who is eligible to get it. I assumed I was coz I paid tax and put in a tax return 07/08. But my mum is on the phone to her accountant who says that you have to have paiud at least $6000 tax to get it (but that she's "not sure"... great accountant mother)!!!! Please confirm/deny I was so looking forward to that money.

edit: sorry i should be more specific... eligible to receive Rudd's tax bonus or whatever it is.

What? It isn't a loan, the government is giving people money.

You would qualify if:
- You've worked enough in order to pay tax
- You are in school
- You receive Centrelink benefits; OR
- You are in university and your family receives Family Tax Benefit A.

I worked enough to pay $94 in tax. lol is that enough?
My mum does get Family Tax Benefit A but she said she only got one lot of $950 even though there's me and my 16 year old brother ($950 per eligible child ages 4 - 18)

Everything is linked to her account anyway, for all I know she got my $950 and kept it for herself lol.

If you've earned under $6000 and paid tax, you should've done a tax return and claimed it all back.

Therefore, you didn't end paying tax after all, so I think you are ineligible.

(I think)

If you had money withheld for tax (that is, money taken from your pay as 'tax') and then had it given back to you, you haven't paid tax.

Kinda shit, if you ask me.

Yup, because of that, I'm too poor for a government handout, or something...

Mmm....

I earned over $6000, and paid tax.
But I had enough deductions to claim it all back.
Maybe I should've only claimed deductions to the point where I paid $1 in tax XD

^ Yeah my mother (who is an accountant) said that we could have rigged it so that my sister and I paid $1 tax, but alas it didn't happen.

Had I known about it last year, would have done it easily.

Alas, such is life.
