I seriously hope they don't weight section 3 equally, its ludicrous.

I know people will argue otherwise but mentally rotating shapes holds less to the practice of medicine than emotional intelligence and logic.

yea but i tihnk the emotional intelligence could be straightforward at times, bar my poor result.
Where as that rotating stuff alludes to some greater mental exercise that maybe med students need in learning or understand concepts. ....
I think Section 1 is the most important, learning and processing. Emotional..... maybe second but trust me, that emotional test was not a good indicator.

A raw score of 175 would have been ~87/89th percentile this year

How hard are those questions in relation to the UMAT?

I agree its important to have a well developed set of social skills and emotional intelligence as a doctor, i'm not sure if the way laid out in the umat is the best way of testing it (probably not) but i still think its very important to test it anyway

**not to mention things like medentry just defeat the purpose of the umat (although it didn't really help some people)

and hopefully the interview screens the weirdoes out...
still there's always ways ppl find to rote learn or crack the system gah! Life.

Isn't the primary purpose of the UMAT to separate students on something other than ATAR score? rather than being a vocational suitability test.

yes
but then you have things like preparation courses that kind of ruin the balance.

That's the third time you've asked in this thread.

Just make a new thread for your question.

Yeah thats what i was getting at, i think its a good idea.

A person who gets 99.95 might not make as good as a doctor as someone who gets like 90.

It could use improving though..
