Editor's note: Ed Dante is a pseudonym for a writer who lives on the East Coast. Through a literary agent, he approached The Chronicle wanting to tell the story of how he makes a living writing papers for a custom-essay company and to describe the extent of student cheating he has observed. In the course of editing his article, The Chronicle reviewed correspondence Dante had with clients and some of the papers he had been paid to write. In the article published here, some details of the assignment he describes have been altered to protect the identity of the student.

Also, this got me a little scared about University (assuming I get in *gets mroe worried*). What are the longest pieces that people on VN have had to write for their courses?

yeah and that was with a set word count... in a prac report i wrote like 4.5k words

although the majority of the work i wrote is like 2-3k i reckon...

I could not help but lol at these:

Customers' orders are endlessly different yet strangely all the same. No matter what the subject, clients want to be assured that their assignment is in capable hands...  I say yes when I am asked if I have a Ph.D. in sociology. I say yes when I am asked if I have professional training in industrial/organizational psychology. I say yes when asked if I have ever designed a perpetual-motion-powered time machine and documented my efforts in a peer-reviewed journal.

I do a lot of work for seminary students. I like seminary students. They seem so blissfully unaware of the inherent contradiction in paying somebody to help them cheat in courses that are largely about walking in the light of God...

I've written essays for those studying to become school administrators, and I've completed theses for those on course to become principals. A very good read nina.  Quite shocking in my opinion but if it happens in America, I can actually imagine it happening here, but perhaps to a lesser extent...  Maybe...

Prac reports are so evil lol...
In 1st semester my report on schrodinger's paper was around 4k, that's probably the most I've done in one assignment


Btw with his 'abilities' this guy should just get like 10 PhDs and everyone will hire him

Lol... I've got their entire pre-exam drill pretty much memorised...

This is an article about US college students. I have friends at Princeton and UC Berkeley, in first year. They have to take a compulsory essay writing course as one of their semester-long first year subjects. At first I thought it was a stupid idea, seeing as, in my opinion, anyone smart enough to get into university should be able to write decent essays. This article showed me why the essay writing class is compulsory at some of the better American universities.
