VN Notes account security

Hi everyone, you may have seen me around the forums as of late, but it was not me (the original creator of this account) it was another person using my account without my knowledge.
I had a period of inactivity on this site for a few months, and after coming back today I found random messages and forum posts I hadn't made and found someone (hacked?) my account and used to to participate in an educational forum ??!!!!

Anyway, changed my password etc and I was wondering if there is a potential exploit in the site? Or just my internet security fails? Not that anything of value was obtained form my account, let alone why anyone would use my account when they could make one for free but I digress.

Security issue maybe?

From now on it will be ME, Luke, posting:P

You may have noticed that since you last visited, the site has had a major make over. Part of the consequences of this make over and the move to a new version of the forum software was that the post database went whack and several members had their posts attributed to other members. I'm not sure which posts you're referring to, but this may have happened to you, making it look like someone else was using your account when instead, what actually happened is another member's post got put under your name instead. Otherwise perhaps someone did indeed hack your account, but I don't see what they have to gain from it.

I assume if someone were able to hack SMF... They would've stolen an admin account... And not yours... But you never know.

That makes sooooo much more sense than someone hacking a free account with no sensitive details. Haha, thank you for the response.

123456 was too long taiga.  In future, 123 should suffice, ok?
