So far in my SACS.

I've gotten.

29/40 = B

What would i need to get in the exam for a 35?

Don't sweat over your SAC marks too much; just remember to keep practising writing and analysing the passages. Also, it would be very good to spend some time on the internet just searching for and reading reviews of the books you're doing: both amateur and expert papers. That way, you can be absolutely sure on what you agree on, and what you interpret differently. I did Lit last year, and seriously i spent HOURS researching EACH book i studied. (you can't always count on your teacher's interpretation, either)

By the way, term three was around about the time that i just kind of gave up on Lit... which was pretty bad, since i didn't really practice my writing... :/ Anyway, i expected a 20 study score. I guess my interpretations saved my ass on the day of the exam.

Keep at it!

The criteria in the assessment handbook is out of twenty, but the exam score is out of 40 for each essay (I think because they are marked twice by different assessors).  Percentage wise 1 exam essay is the equivalent to one semester of SACs.
I got a 35 for Literature last year, I got A's for my semester 1 and 2 SAC's (according to VCAA), the marks given to me by my teacher worked out to be in the mid/high 90's (/100) for each semester, but they were moderated down to about mid 80's due to my cohort, and then my exam score was 60/80 (30/40 for each essay) which was a B+, but the cut off for an A was 61+ (::))
It's all pretty subjective; the marks your teachers give you and the marks you get at the end of the year from VCAA can be wildly different. Rather than focusing on your study score, you should just make sure that you walk out of each of your SAC's feeling content that you tried your hardest. When it comes to the exam, it doesn't matter if what you write in the exam is a work of literary genius, ultimately only two random assessors will read your paper, to whom you are an anonymous number. Studying literature is a pleasure, just make sure that you enjoy it!
Also, it would be very good to spend some time on the internet just searching for and reading reviews of the books you're doing
This is excellent advice, however, some of the texts on the lit textlist are pretty obsecure and have few online resources. So try books too! If you are a member of your local libary (you should be, doing lit and all) you can use this: www.llv.net.au/ which lets you search pretty much every libary book in Victoria.
Demongleekgazza - I would reccomend Dario Fo: stage, text, and tradition, if you haven't already got it, for Accidental Death.

2 sets of 19s and 2 sets of 18s got someone with a rank 1 47.

According to EZ, this is about the right score. I don't think it'll matter too much if you're not rank 1 as long as your rank 1 gets a good score themselves. Seems fairly alright in my opinion...

Yeah, the rank thing is fairly dependent on your cohort though, I was beat everyone doing 3/4 lit last year by at least 5 marks on each SAC, and I'm comfortably rank rank 1 in EngLang this year (small cohort) and equal rank 1 in mainstream english (large cohort) but I highly doubt I'll get above 40 in either because my school has such low standards! Haha. 50% of last year's mainstream english cohort didn't sit the exam.

look, I got a 47 in lit and nobody else in my entire cohort got a raw score even above 40. so u can do it :) But you need to keep comparing yourself to everyone else in good schools and private schools and VN to get a sense of where you are. I estimated my raw would be 39 and look what happened. Also, go to EZ if u can for tutoring :)

I've gotten an A+ on the adaptations sac, A on the Views and Values sac, and a B on the varying interpretations sac (shouldn't have gotten this but I accidentally took one of my sac sheets out of the sac with me so it couldn't be assessed and my essay was only half done, it was a miracle that I got a B, hard lesson learnt)

On a high B+ average.

This should hopefully get me a 35 in Lit.

at my school we consider 80% + as an A and 90%+ for an A+, however, it depends on how the rest of your cohort is doing, for example, in a history sac I recently did, my percentage was 78% but because no one did very well I was in the A+ range, I hope that answers you question :)

thanks. Literature is quite hard I think. My writing is very sporadic. one day it will be fluent, coherent and engaging. But then other times it is convoluted and weak. grrrrr.

any suggestions????
