If the intensity of predation against beetles was altered in the pond ecosystem to 4 red :2 orange: o yellow, predict what changes you would expect in the results
and what assumptions made in this exercise would need to be altered for the population to become homogenous with all beetles becoming red ?

What were the original populations?? If it were 4, 4, and 4 there has been a major genetic drift towards red.
I'll do an example based on an original pop of 4,4,4 and that there are 2 alleles (red and yellow) with orange being an incompete dominant form (ie. hetrozygous.)
4 Red (R,R) = 8 R alleles 4 orange (R,Y) = 4 red alleles 4 yellow alleles 4 yellow (Y,Y) = 8 yellow alleles.
In other words 12 Red alleles and 12 yellow alleles in original gene pool (50% each)
After predation leaving 4 Red, 2 orange and 0 yellow.
4 red (R,R) = 8 red alleles 2 orange (R,Y) = 2 red alleles, 2 yellow alleles.
Total = 10 red alleles and 2 yellow alleles left in the gene pool. (83% red alleles, 17% yellow)
If you want the red to become fixed (the only allele available in the population)
THE ORANGE BUGS MUST BE DESTROYED!!! (manic little laugh!!)
