i have a mate who didnt refer to the stimulus material directly, he didnt quote it but he used it's concept fairly obviously
how many marks will be taken off for the lack of a quote

my teacher said you don't have to directly quote it, but refer or relate to it ? so I am sure its fine...
correct me if im wrong.

yeah but he didnt say "my statement agress with the stimilus or agrees with this guys statement" it was just, he read the stimulus then wrote with their ideas lol

Yeah you don't need to explicitly, state it. Just write anything related to it

yeah but if the deem it to not be enough how much will he lose?
is it an instant 0 or just a few marks off or what?

Nah no way an instant 0, but you'll probs shave 1-2 marks off out of 15 therefore 2-4 out of 30. But easier just to directly quote, what i did :)

yeah but i think he forgot or smth, meh, its just the wording "must" in bold that has me worried for his sake cuz he was aiming for high 90s

The stimulus provided is there to guide you to what the examiners suggest you talk about in the essay so that you don't get the wrong idea when you read the essay topic. If you write about things similar or relevant to the stimulus, then it should be fine. I don't think he would lose any marks at all if you said that he got the ideas from the stimulus...because thats the whole point in them...
