Were the civilians of North Koreans were force to cry in front of the media?

Did the communists told the civilians to confront their sorrows and emotion in front of the media (due to Kim Jong-il's death)?

sorry for being rude, but thats just my natural instincts.

You are seriously delusional, you cannot force that many people to convey sadness and grief.

The regime they have been subject has for lack of a better word 'brainwashed' them into believing that their leader was actually all that the government claimed he was. These people are genuinely upset and distraught.
I dont want to start a massive debate but it is reasonable to believe that the citizens are being forced to 'convey sadness and grief'.

This is my honest opinion, but I also felt that the crying was pretty much staged. Sure, there would be some in grief and shock, but I think all the scenes we see on Western television is what they WANT us to see, and I can't see how that isn't staged.

pi, both my parents and grandparents grew up in a Communist European state and at the death of the leader (Tito), they recall it as the saddest and most hollow day of their lives. It's as though your life has finished. Everyone wept for the entirety of the day and famously a football derby was cancelled with all players and people in the stand weeping and this was far before Western media was here.

Basically, you can't understand the mindset of these people and my parents said it was pretty similar scenes to when Tito died.

I agree with this. It's hard being rational and skeptical when you are the subject of daily brainwashing.

I just don't believe that this was staged:

Some of the emotions look pretty intense and these people are just ordinary people, not actors, I just don't think they could all do that good a job.

And remember before referencing Channel 7 remember this is a network that tried to ban Fluoride from our drinking water despite recommendations from dentists to add it to all forms of water including bottle, lol.

that's fair enough, and i just read your post about your parents as well
I have no idea what the mindset of these people would be like
i thought it was just out of fear for their lives and tears of some joy covered as tears of pain

It's really not that hard to quantify..., but I believe that being raped once is not as bad as being raped five times, even if the one rape was by a gang of people.
