In all honesty I think the approach of learning the whole course over the holidays is very very unnecessary. All I would recommend is that you know all your 1/2 stuff really well (or at least everything which is relevant).
VCE 2010-2011:
English | Philosophy | Latin | Chemistry | Physics | Methods | UMEP Philosophy
ATAR: 99.95

2012-2014: BSc (Chemistry/Philosophy) @ UniMelb

Currently taking students for summer chemistry and physics tutoring! PM for details.

So what exactly from units 1/2 is relevant in 3/4? I'm new to both the forums and to some of the concepts in chemistry. I did units 1/2 but I barely scraped a satisfactory due to some mitigating circumstances. I am planning on preparing for units 3/4 by going over concepts from 1/2 that will be in 3/4 but I'm not sure what they are exactly.

From what I've gathered, everything bar environmental chemistry

No structures of metals, metallic lattice and foundations of atomic structure/ production of periodic table on 3/4 either. But it is really important to understand trends on the periodic table as well as understand chemical bonding as the basis of many later concepts.
Best thing for chem is get right onto analytical techniques such as NMR, IR and AAS. These are by far the hardest, you need solid understanding of theory as well as solid understanding of how to tackle questions. Read multiple textbooks as well as online resources for these to properly understand the concepts. Practice HEAPs of questions especially for these techniques!
GOOD LUCK!  :)
