alll 4? wow..but i dont think so. commerce and science first semester subjects are different...so i'm not sure if you can cross-credit them though...it would be awesome though :D

reckon there's a high chance i could transfer midyear from commerce to science with 95.5 atar? :D

If you want to, you can probably credit science subjects as breadth. If you got 95.5 then I'm pretty sure you will be able to transfer, since the science requirement was like 90 something. Anyway, if you are planning on doing science, it may be a good idea to do 2-3 science subjects this first semester (you'd put them under breadth for now).

i was planning to do a diploma:

So it might look like this, assuming that this structure can be done in Comm? (i hope so)

COMM SUBJECT--Introductory Microeconomics,
COMM SUBJECT--Principles of Marketing,
BREADTH SUBJECT--in science
DIPLOMA SUBJECT--in jap

And then, from Semester 2, if i apply for transfer:

i was planning to do a diploma:

So it might look like this, assuming that this structure can be taken as well in science: (again, i hope so)

Introductory Microeconomics--->will be breadth
Principles of Marketing--->will be breadth
BREADTH SUBJECT--in science--->will be core
DIPLOMA SUBJECT--in jap---?will be diploma

so i would just have to catch up on 1 other core subject in science from semester 1...
Thus, as the 3rd semester comes rolling through, i would just need to catch up on THREE core subjects...rather than having to do two core, 1 breadth, 1 diploma in this semester...
LOL
get me? haha.

Is this possible? Let me know if im confusing!

2010: TNT (39)
2011: English (42) | Bio (39) | Chem (35) | Jap (35) | Methods (36)|

ATAR: 95.50 ( i actually got my prediction! :D)

Very possible, although it sounds like you want to do the full 400 points for your bachelors+diploma? Those who choose to do 350 points will do their diploma subjects as their breadth in the first year or two.

yeah...full 400 points. that way i could at least cross credit some stuff? without diploma..i wouldn't be able to cross credit anything..and then i really will have to end up in first year again. i hope there is no disadvantage in doing 400point program...i don't mind the breadth at all, in fact, i'd prefer it. therefore, i'm happy keeping it there for enjoyment/enrichment's sake.

So defs 400 points.

Ill take this proposed structure to the comm guys on friday or something..confirm..and PRAY that it works!

I thought you could only choose to apply for dip.lang after finishing first year? Or at least, this is recommended?

If that's the case I'm pretty sure you have to apply like now. Applications for diploma close at the end of january I believe... Not sure if you can still 'insert' the subject into your diploma if you apply later in the year/next year though.

it's recommended for students to apply for diplang after a year of uni. does that mean we are meant to take the language as breadth in our first year? if not, are the credits transferrable even if we do?

still quite confused as to how diplang works.

You would only apply in first year if you want to complete 400 points and NOT cross-credit anything. If you dont apply in first year, then you will do your diploma subjects as breadth. The problem with this is once you complete them, they are forever in your main degree, you cannot remove them. So the best thing you can do after that is crosscredit them to your diploma, but you can never actually remove these subjects to do the full 400.

So to put simply: if you do them in breadth, you cannot do 400 points. If you apply in first year, then you do NOT do them in breadth.
