Student Number AND Student ID number

Whats the difference? I tried to activate my Uni-account (for uni-math) and it didn't work when I used by six digit student ID when it asked for the student number...
(Student Number : (Numeric component only - VTAC students: this is your University of Melbourne Student Number, not VTAC applicant number))

Please help me out.

That's what I thought too, however when I tried to activate my uni-account using the number, it didn't work. So its either that I spelled my own name wrong, got my birth day wrong or postcode. I am a sitting duck at the moment. I have sent an email to melb-uni along with a print screen of the page as well.

There's no difference, but try the barcode from your student card, which is occasionally used as a login ID
