Hi all,
What is required to get a 45 ss in vce english?
For example: Amount of study, Essays per week (and throughout the year), Novels read, sac ranking, exam scores etc.?
I have not read many novels in the past, as i have tended not to enjoy reading, although i am pretty good at writing essays. - Is a 45 still possible as of this?

Thanks

These questions are always a bit odd. There is no number that will guarantee anything - it all depends on you. If you did an essay a night (properly) a 45 should be very very very possible. Tbh one a fortnight + extra for SAC and in exam time would do too.

If you don't like reading... tough. You kind of have to. Unless you use study guides exclusively (which I don't really recommend if you want 45+) you will need to read and analyse texts. Thats pretty much 67% of your exam in a sense (section B isn't really analysis of text though).

Also - it's like the first week of school. Nothing is impossible yet unless you say it is.

There isn't a set amount per week which you need to do. It's moreso just always being enthusiastic in beating your last attempt. Write essays regularly and keep fixing your work until whoever is marking your work has to really pull at strings to find something bad about your writing. What you say is definitely possible, that's pretty much exactly what I was/am like (though I read a fair bit of non-fiction/news etc), and I managed to do pretty well.

tldr: keep practising
vce: english, methods, spesh, chemistry, physics, geography.

I don't know if I can talk coz I got 44 but from what I know I tried to hand in an essay every week to my teacher (and different teachers to get different feedbacks) however, sadly for me, I couldn't keep it up, sacs slowed me down and I ended up handing essays every fortnight. During exam time I hit the accelerater and just bombarded my teachers with essays..
Also with the novel, I chose mine pretty early (maestro) and I read that book 7 or 8 times before sitting the exam, first in the holidays, second in the class, 3rd and 4th for the sac (an indepth analysis) and finally the rest were read before exams just trying to remember quotes and refresh my memory on yhe plot...
If you're this type of a learner you could go this way (but I think reading the book 3 or 4 tomes should be enough:P
good luck :)
hope this helps:)
