hey guys you probably feel like Im just drowning this thread... but there's not many people I can turn to with my questions and you guys all rock
I didn't do English last year (did lit) and I have my first context sac tomorrow
I've done about 4 practise essays, and they havn't been consistent, so I'm a little nervous
I would just like your opinion, and if you reckon my ideas are any good and can cover the prompt to enough depth?
The school gives us the prompt like 5 days in advance, and we write up our explanation beforehand which I think is a little odd..
So, our prompt is "Conflict forces people to make uncomfortable choices"
Our text is the Rugmaker
and I'm planning to start my essay with an 'anecdote'
A story of a friend who lies to her parents about her same sex partner,
as they don't know of her..
and how it is an uncomfortable choice for her yet it is to avoid a larger conflict in the short term
then I want to start with when the prompt isn't true,
with people being sincere in their choices, i.e The Taliban in the Rugmaker/Afghanistan
I will then link this to current day Syria and how people have had to fight against their government, and how people become willing to make a choice they originally wouldn't have, as a result of conflict
Then I'll mention the Rugmaker, and when the prompt is true with the choice to leave Afghanistan for Australia
and finish off by bringing back in the original anecdote and showing the many levels of conflict and it's effects
What do you all reckon??
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Thankyou!
