I didn't do Dr He, but apparently you can skip the test if you have certain certificates or something :)

Apparently getting Westpac High Distinction
or Prize will get you in  :D.

Haha yeah, I never really took those competitions seriously unfortunately, so the test is the only option for me now :(

prize or high distinction will get you into challenge class
distinction will get you into general class; after which if you beat 2/3 of the students in the termly topic exams you will earn a spot in challenge class
same topics are taught across both general and challenge class, however he marks your homework in challenge class and posts the scores up (more competitive edge to it is the only difference)

btw i didnt do the entrance exam, just snuck in with a distinction :D
but i think it's just problem solving and not very topic oriented, i think he tests your maths problem solving skills, so expect AMC type questions

DO NOT TAKE THE TEST!
I did it the first time and failed.
I tried the following year and passed barely with 50%.

Seriously just do well in Westpac and get in from there. You only need like Distinction.
THE TEST IS IMPOSSIBLE. Don't think I can do it now even if I tried the Level 1 (Year 9) entrance test :O

The man is a legend

Don't worry about doing the challenge class IMO.. You can do as well in general class as he teaches the same thing (GENERAL CLASS REPRESENT :D).. Or to quote the man himself, "I actually teach you more in the general class cause you can take the timing practise home.."

Some people thought it wasn't worth it as they didn't know wtf was going on.. But I found it was really useful as the questions he set were harder than vce so in the real exam you just race through while everyone is like  :o
