more annoying study score prediction help!

generally, i'm quite good at english, but i have had some ongoing family trauma that has prevented me from doing as well in SACs as i could have. i started the year hoping for a 45, but for my SACs i have gotten 26/30, 28/30, and 13/20 for my oral (..really nervous speaker lol) so far, and have my language analysis SAC this week.
i have no idea what my ranking was, but i know i was somewhere towards the top of my class for my first two SACs, and i have a rellllatively strong cohort. as for my oral presentation, i assume i was somewhere towards the bottom of the class  :-[
is there any way i could do really well in the exam and in unit 4 so that it would make up for the marks i've lost in this unit? if not, what is the lowest approximate study score that i could get?

thank you thank you!

If this is something which could adversely affect your overall VCE performance you could apply for a SEAS. I'm not sure about how this sort of thing operates merely on the SAC level though. Consider talking to your VCE coordinator(s) about it.
English (49) Software Development (44) Psychology (43) IT Applications (40) Methods (35) Physics (34) ATAR: 97.15 Course: Master of Engineering (Software) Also providing English tuition. Students in the North Eastern suburbs especially convenient as I live in Ivanhoe. Interested in giving tuition to students studying Computing.

VCE coordinator said i would most likely be eligible, but i'd like to still try my best to work through it and get the mark on my own without the SEAS application.
although, i don't know exactly what the SEAS application does... i'm guessing universities just grant special consideration to those who are SEAS applicants. i should probably look into it further lol!

thanks, though!

As a former SEAS applicant with a 45 study score in English, I think I can lend a hand here.

Basically, applying for SEAS will not adjust your results in any particular subject, nor will it adjust your final ATAR result. However, what a SEAS application will do is if your score is around the cutoff point for your desired university degree, then the tertiary institution will give you a little bit more consideration and take into account that if personal circumstances had been better during year 12, then you may probably have achieved the required score.

For example, say you need a study score of 35 in English and you get 34 - they may be a tad more lenient. Or alternatively, you need an ATAR of 83 and you only get 79 - again they may be more lenient in their selection.

As for your actual English SACs, I got around the same marks as you did during Unit 3. Based on my (somewhat) poor maths skills it seems that based on your text response, context and oral you are sitting on a collective 67/80. Based on what I got on text, context and oral I was sitting on 70/80, and I went on to get your desired score, a 45. So not a huge difference, especially due to the fact that they are just SACs and not an exam.

So without a doubt give the SEAS application a crack, but just persevere with your English studies and just concentrate on the fact that the exam is SOOOO much more important than SACs (but SACs are still relatively significant at the end of the day).
