Hi, quick question about reflex arcs

Regarding: Here
That is a monosynaptic reflex arc? At first, I thought it did involve connecting neurons, hence a polysynaptic reflex arc although that is wrong. Observing a diagram, how do you distinguish if it could of a monsynaptic reflex arc or the latter? Just count how many synapses there are? lol

Cheers,

a reflex arc that has one synapse
probably don't need to know too much about it....stop adding things that we have to know! :P
OP: yeh just count the number of synapses

Doesn't have to be one synapse...

Common example:

yeah i was taught it as a reflex arc, where your brain doesn't process it. Like the knee jerk test at the doctors.

knee jerk reaction is an example of monosynaptic reflex arc
and there are other ones that are polysynaptic reflex arcs (like VegemitePi's image)
But in both cases, they are reflex arcs, so both are automatic (involuntary) responses with no conscious control
*just checked biozone :)
