:P Got it Paul, got it :P

Hahaha, I didn't read through all of your posts - was kinda tldr, sorry :P

I know plenty of rural kids, but also a couple of metro ones with UMATs at 88-89%ile.

I think 94%ile is still pretty high, I stand by the 92%ile range imo, it was a huge jump from 2010 to 2011, it'll go down to just above 2010 levels imo.

Rural students then yeah I guess, but they are allowed significant concessions, apparently it is actually a lot easier to get in if you're rural, even though you might not be disadvantaged.

Hmmm, the thing is, 2010 was higher than 2009 which was higher than 2008, just from talking to past students. I think this is because of two reasons - the number of people sitting the UMAT actually increase every year - I saw something to suggest this, but can't find it now. Secondly, in my opinion, people get better at the UMAT every year as well.

And, last issue is whether Medicine places will be reduced due to the internship crisis.

Yeah, it gets higher, we've already said that is due to more people per percentile due to more people sitting the UMAT. But I doubt there was such a rapid increase in applicants between 2010 and 2012 to warrant a 3-4 percentile increase over that time. If anything, it'll be 1-2 percentiles (maxed at 92%ile as I said).

As for people getting better, I need some stats to believe that. Maybe more people are getting better, but the same proportion of them are "getting better" if that makes sense.
