So is anyone here thinking or going to write about 12 Angry Men? If so, what advantages do you think are there besides being a short text to study?

Also.. how do you identify the important quotes in 12 Angry Men since a lot of the text is all talk.

Also how do you incorporate them into the essay? Thanks

Advantages: In comparison to TRF (THE RELUCTANT FUNDAMENTALIST-heavily compliacted and layered book) 12 Angry Men is far simpler, easier to understand and starightforward. Incorporates interesting ideas about the jury system (and its effectiveness) in America-maybe i'm just a murder thriller type of person-...it just appeals to me.

Incorporate them [or paraphrase] them into your writing: "this is evident as Juror 8 endevours to explain...."

I am sure your teacher will help you with this, maybe wait and listen to class discussions? Read a few sample essays? Studyguides even [Atarnotes ...:)]

I'm going to be writing on 12AM during the exam because I actually really enjoy it. It's very interesting and for me, far easier to understand and write on. I could write 12AM essays all day!

In regards to quotes, I just slip them into my sentences as if that's what I was going to write but it just happens to be a quote :P

For example,

The gravity of the situation is heightened by Rose’s use of real time and the claustrophobic confines of the court room, as the audience find themselves trapped behind a locked door with the jurors, enduring every moment of tension and revelation that arises on “the hottest day of the year”.

Alright cool!
But isn't a bit difficult having to study 12 characters? Or do you just focus on the main characters (Juror 8, 3, 4, and so on) because some jurors such as Juror 2 don't talk that much throughout the play.

Also how many times have you read the book?
I just read the book twice today, once yesterday and intend on reading it 4 times over the weekend and 6 times next week. Since I'm enjoying it a lot too! :D

I don't find it difficult studying the twelve characters since there isn't actually that much to know about each of them. You don't want to just focus on the prominent characters, the strongest students will probably also include discussion about the less popular/prominent jurors. That will distinguish you from the masses.

I've read it once :P

Really how'd you come up with such complex views on the book by just reading it once? That's pretty impressive I must say.

Its great to see that you are enjoying the book, but I honestly think that is way too many times to read one book. I guess (max) I would read it about 6 times. You do have another book that you can write on the exam, and no offense, but don't put all your eggs into one basket (something i learnt from doing midyears)

Ah alright. That's good advice I guess. The other book which I'm studying is Years of Wonder which isn't that great in my opinions and takes much longer to read, given that its historical fiction the language is very tedious for me . But you're definitely write you never what prompt might come up, so preparation is key.

Haha I'm doing the same texts as you, SK.
I'll be doing TAM most likely - I can read it all day, I love writing about it etc. Will still prepare for YOW, maybe 75/25% in favour of TAM.
We should have a TAM study group during swotvac.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️
