It's a really interesting field right now, some people predict soon enough we might be able to repair organs or even produce whole organs. Obviously, the implications of that are excellent.

It's great they're working on alternatives to embryonic stemcells as well considering the whole issue around that isn't going to go away anytime soon.

(Just on a little side-note, for anyone who is fairly interested in this, monash have an excellent developmental biology program and one of the units lets you do research in a stem cell lab (http://www.med.monash.edu.au/anatomy/docs/dev3032.pdf) )
