Alright, I'm going to keep this nice and succinct.

If I am ranked terribly in a pretty strong cohort, get a raw SAC grade of C+, let's say (I have no idea what I'll actually get) but manage low-mid A+ on both exams, will my SAC marks be boosted by heaps, and what sort of a study score can I be looking at?

Thanks

Your sacs probably won't be bumped up heaps to something like A+, maybe at most an B+ or an A, but that obviously varies from school to school.
Last year when I did 1 3/4 subject I got my A sac mark bumped to A+ because I got A+ on both my exams.
I would say 41/42 raw by the way if you got low-mid A+ on both exams since A+ is almost guaranteed 40ss at least

If your SAC rank is crap in a strong cohort your SAC's could get scaled up to an A+ if there are more A+ exams scores than your rank. So if you're rank 50 and there are 50 A+ exam scores including you as well, a 40+ is possible. This situation is just an exaggerated example because that would be highly unlikely. The idea of the SAC Exam scaling is just what results suggests as VCAA doesn't publish its calculation methods afaik. Just give a rough estimate of how many people are in your cohort and where you would rank. I'll post this link that shows the people at Haileybury who got a 40+ in methods who had their results published. This is just a rough indication of the performance at your school because there are people who don't agree to have their results published. http://www.topscores.info/select-vic.php?req=da-all&year=2011&sortBy=name&filter=name!Contains!Haileybury%20college&pageno=2#pagehere.

Thanks guys.

Everybody above me won't get an A+.

Hopefully, they see my SAC mark, see that it's inconsistent with my two A+ exam marks and bump me right up to an A or A+.

Would love a 40-42 in Methods.
