Analysing short stories - Reading and Responding HELP

So I have my final SAC for Englisht this week, I don't particularly like the book and find it hard to analyse as a whole, as they're short stories.

Any advice on how to approach it? I know its pretty late, i'm gonna be doing some serious cramming!
Thanks!

Focus of the themes explored in each short story and how they link, overall to the author's view.
In short stories, they explain a great deal in a short space so analyse WHY THE AUTHOR has used certain language, ideas, characters and to portray what effect. Ex. Shalini Akhil demonstrates through her memoir, "Destiny", the contrasting views  of acceptance and defining one's identity prevalent in those of Asian descent.
