How relevent is our ATAR score after year 12?

Hey,

So I'll clarify.
If I get a low ATAR and don't get into the course I want, and decide to transfer into it later, would my ATAR still matter? Would they still reject my application on the basis that my score is still too low. :?

 If so, how long after year 12 does your ATAR become less important? I hope that makes sense. :P

It plays a role in some transfers, especially those done mid-year, but also some others too.

It loses a lot of it's relevance after first year because if you transfer midway through 2nd year they only look at your uni marks.
